CARA COLLECTING STRING LIGHTS FOR RECYCLING

 Charlotte Area Recycling Authority is collecting string lights for recycling! Now through January 9th! 

There will be a collection bin out during CARA's normal business hours on Tuesdays (8am-12pm), Thursdays (2pm-6pm), and Saturdays (8am-12pm). ♻️

Please note: NO OTHER ELECTRONIC ITEMS WILL BE ACCEPTED

CARA To Re-Open Tuesday, May 19, 2020

The Charlotte Area Recycling Authority will re-open for recycling on Tuesday, May 19, 2020. We will be enforcing strict changes in order to reduce the potential spread of COVID-19. Please review these guidelines. We also will be temporarily expanding recycling hours to help meet the needs of our patrons.

*We are accepting can and bottle returnables as donation!!

Please hold on to your recyclables!

Recycling is still important and we are encouraging recyclers to hold on to their recyclables until our full services resume. This also includes bottle and can returnables.

If you cannot wait and must drop off your recyclables somewhere, please follow precautions and practice social distancing.

RECYCLING TEMPORARILY CLOSED - TRASH SERVICE STILL AVAILABLE

Pursuant to Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s executive order 2020-21, the Charlotte Area Recycling Authority (CARA) center will be CLOSED FOR RECYCLING until May 15

For those that depend on CARA for trash disposal services, the center will be open during limited hours for TRASH DISPOSAL ONLY ($4.00 per bag). 

These hours are as follows:

*Tuesdays 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon

*Thursdays 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

*Saturdays 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon

Please continue to store your recyclable materials as CARA will reopen and resume with full services following the mandated closure. 

*Remember: Dumping at CARA at any time is ILLEGAL and subject to a $500 fine.

Please stay home and stay safe.

We have had a lot of inquiries and as of right now, our current plan is to remain open. We do ask that you please refrain from coming in if ill. Please keep a 6ft #socialdistance as much as possible and please keep the flow moving (come pre-sorted) so we are able to keep the amount of people to less than 10 people at any given time. Due to the impending ice storm, CARA will be closing early tomorrow, Saturday, January 11, 2020.

Our hours will be 8:00am to 10:00am to give recyclers and staff enough time to close down and get home before the temps start dropping to freezing.
