The Charlotte Area Recycling Authority (CARA) is a local drop-off recycling center for residents in and surrounding the Charlotte, Michigan area, located at 201 Hall Street. The Center is funded through donations, sale of recyclable materials and grants from Eaton County Resource Recovery. While recycling is a free service, donations are always welcomed and greatly appreciated.

Closed Due to Cold
We will be closed again this morning due to negative temps (including wind chill factor). We are going to try and open this afternoon from 2pm to 6pm if weather allows. If in doubt, please call to see if we are open at 517.213.1266 - thank you!

Cold Weather Closings
We have had lots of calls asking if we will be open tomorrow, right now we are just watching to see what the weather does. If it is in the negatives (including wind chill factor) we will be closed for the day. If not, we will be open! Thank you all for understanding! Stay safe and warm everyone

CARA NO LONGER ABLE TO ACCEPT TVs & COMPUTER MONITORS
In case you haven't heard the news yet, effective immediately, the CARA recycling center is no longer able to accept any CRT containing devices due to a steep increase in cost to recycle them. CRT containing devices include TVs and computer monitors. CARA will continue to accept miscellaneous electronics, including appliances, computer towers, etc. If you have a question on what materials are recyclable at CARA, please call (517) 213-1266.
CARA will continue to search for a new outlet for this material. Meanwhile, please contact the Eaton County Resource Recovery at (517) 543-3686 for how to properly dispose your TVs and monitors.
