The Charlotte Area Recycling Authority (CARA) is a local drop-off recycling center for residents in and surrounding the Charlotte, Michigan area, located at 201 Hall Street. The Center is funded through donations, sale of recyclable materials and grants from Eaton County Resource Recovery. While recycling is a free service, donations are always welcomed and greatly appreciated.

We are de"lighted" to announce the return of the annual string light collection, beginning on Tuesday, December 3rd at 8am and ending on Thursday, January 30th at 6pm. Start saving up your unwanted string lights to bring in for recycling! ♻🎄♻

*Donations always accepted and appreciated! We also accept returnable cans and bottles as donation!
*Please come pre-sorted as much as possible to expedite drop-off!
*Do not dump - no recycling available outside of open hours except for businesses/organizations that schedule with staff.
*ATTENTION*
We CANNOT accept any battery containing electronic device including but not limited to:
- NO Vape pens
- NO Shavers
- NO Flashlights
- NO Portable light fixtures
If the batteries are easily removed from the device, we will be happy to accept the batteries once they are removed. If the batteries are not easily removable from the device, we cannot accept them or the device containing them. Please do not leave these devices at CARA!

*REMINDER! We will be CLOSED on Saturday, September 7, 2024 for Frontier Days! We plan to reopen on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 from 8am-12pm for all of your recycling needs.
